Verónika Expósito and Her Positive Attitude in Golf

At 18 years old, Verónika Expósito has left an indelible mark on the world of golf at The Woodlands High School. With an impressive record of 4 regional championships, 4 district titles, three victories in District 13-6A, and two in Region II-6A, this young Spanish golfer has established herself as one of the top high school golfers in the region. Now, thanks to a scholarship earned through her recent success in golf, she has begun an exciting chapter at the University of Louisville, where she will join their golf team with the hope of shining over the next four years.

As an athlete and student, Verónika understands the importance of balancing her social life with her athletic goals. While she enjoys social media like any young person her age, her dedication to golf is undeniable.

With years of experience in the sport, Verónika knows that golf, being an individual sport, requires a positive mindset and constant focus due to its unique challenges. “Golf is a sport where you can put a lot of pressure on yourself because, at the end of the day, it’s you against the course. Even though you play against other golfers, you can only control what you do,” she explains. “It’s crucial to maintain a positive attitude, even when things don’t go as expected. A negative thought can ruin an entire round, and in golf, nothing is decided until the ball lands in hole 18.”

Throughout her career, Verónika has participated in numerous tournaments in Texas and nationally, which has allowed her to meet golfers from all over the country. However, the road has not always been easy. She has faced challenges that have tested her passion and determination. One such difficult moment occurred at the Junior PGA Championship two years ago. “I had a setback on one hole, and I didn’t maintain the positive attitude I should have. My game deteriorated, and I missed the cut, but I learned so much from that experience about the importance of staying positive in every tournament. A negative attitude gets you nowhere.” Patience is another crucial lesson for Verónika.

Now, in her new adventure in Louisville, Verónika also faces the personal challenge of being away from home. “It really saddens me to think about being far from my family, who has always been by my side at every tournament. My parents have been my biggest support, and I will always be eternally grateful to them,” she confesses with tears in her eyes.

As a new member of the University of Louisville’s golf team, Verónika aims to play all four years on the Travel Team, participate in all tournaments, secure some victories, and eventually turn professional.

With her outstanding junior golf career, including her 3rd place position in the Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings for the 2024 class in Texas and 99th place nationally, Verónika Expósito has proven to be a true prospect in the sport.

Verónica, of Spanish-Venezuelan parents, has won several tournaments, including: the Girls Southern Texas (2024), LJT Major Texas Girls’ Invitational (2024), TJGT Traditions Fall Invitational (2023), Heart of Texas twice (2023 and 2021), the Orange Bowl Doral Jr. Classic (2021), and tied for first place at the Lonestar Girls Invitational (2022). She played several AJGA tournaments, earning third place at the Insperity Invitational Patrick Reed Junior Championship (2022). Since 2022, she has ranked first in the HAGCA All-Area Awards.
